Insurance Scheme for Foreigners Visiting Thailand in Event of Riots
Since 1 May 2009, the Royal Thai Government has set up an insurance scheme specifically for foreigners visiting the Kingdom who are affected by looses or harms or unable to leave the Kingdom in event of riots.
For the current situation related the demonstrations taking place in Thailand, this insurance scheme covers losses and damages occurring during the period from 9 April 2010 at 16.31 hrs. until 31 March 2011 at 16.30 hrs. and applies to all foreign visitors entering the Kingdom legally. It covers losses and damages in the following three cases, as follows;
1)Loss of life, limbs or permanent disabilities in the amount of not exceeding US$ 10,000 per person;
2)Hospital expenses as incurred, and hospital stay, if necessary, for a maximum period of 10days, in the amount of US$ 1,000 per person and not exceeding US$ 10,000 per person;
3)Loss or damage due to travel limitation in the amount of US$ 100 per person per day but not exceeding the total of US$ 10,000 per person.
